August 29th, 2016

Hola Everybody,

This week was a little of downer. We went on Thursday to visit Omar. We asked him how he was feeling about his baptism. He called his mom this week to tell her about it and she told him that she was happy that he was going to church but that she didn't want him to get baptized because hes already baptized in the catholic church. He told us that he knew what were teaching was true but that he didn't want to get baptized if his Mom didn't want him to. Its a little bit sad but we obviously we are still going to help and strengthen him. Hes still going to go to church and he went with us on a few visitas this week too. Other than that we taught the Flia Salazar again and read about the Book of Mormon, they told us they would read as a family and pray to know if its true. We have another cita tomorrow so well see how that goes. We really didn't have too much this week but were working hard with the people we have already.

I love this scripture in Acts 14:

22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

I love the last part because it really is necessary that we go through trials in this life. If we dont ever have trials we wont ever progress, and if we never progress its impossible to enter into the kingdom of God. So if we just push through the trials that we have we will be blessed not only in this life but the life after as well.

Thats all i have for this week. Sorry i dont have any photos either but ill try to get some next week.

Love, Elder Crisp

August 22nd, 2016

Hola Everybody,

This week was pretty chill. We finally got to leave and work. We met with Omar and the Flia Campero this week. Omar told us that we have to push the date back to the 3rd because he has a test on the 27th, but we taught him about the Commandments this week and he understood pretty well everything. We finished lesson 5 too so now we just have to help him prepare more and teach him a few things again. He went to church yesterday again and then after we went on a few visits with him with a few families. It was pretty awesome. We talked with him about Missionary Work and he told us that hes been telling all his friends in school to go to his baptism and his teachers too and he told us that when we needed help with a visit that he always there to help us. I'm super pumped with how fast he progressing. It's honestly unbelievable compared to how he acted before and how he acts now.
Other than that we couldn't find the Flia Sosa because they left for a week. But we did have a visit with a new family, the Flia Salazar. They are a super cool family. Their daughter is a convert and her parents were attending when she got baptized but stopped going. We taught them about the Restoration and they liked it a lot. They said they were going to read and pray about it and do everything they can to go to church next week..
Another family that we met a few weeks ago but taught for the first time yesterday is the Flia Salvatierra. We taught them too about the Restoration and they told us that it all made since why there had to be a restoration ad that Christ came to the Americas. I'm excited for them to because they are really cool.
That's about it for this week. It was good to actually leave and work this week and also meet some new people. Have a good week.

August 15th, 2016

Hola everybody,

So this week was a little different. On Monday we a an FHE and Elder Chavez wasn't feeling too good so we went home and the next day he was feeling the same so we went to the hospital and the doctor told him he had Chicken Pox. So this whole week we were locked in the house and couldn't leave. And there really isn't much to say for this week .

Luckily i did get to go and work for a few hours on Wednesday and we did visit with the Flia Campero. This week was pretty important for Omar to be able to get baptized next week and we didn't get to leave at all so his date got pushed back to the 27th. We already planned to visit him everyday this week and he seems pretty excited.

This week i had a lot of time to read, so i was reading in D&C and i read a scripture that i really liked. In section 29:39

39 And it must needs be that the devil should tempt the children of men, or they could not be agents unto themselves; for if they never should have bitter they could not know the sweet.

I like that part at the end the most. We really wouldn't appreciate the good that we have in this life if there wasn't something bitter. I was a little frustrated this week because we couldn't teach Omar but i thought a lot on this scripture and thought that there is some special reason that we didn't get to leave this week.

That's all i got for this week, i love you all and hope you all have a sick week.

August 8th, 2016

This week was very interesting. First off we got cambios and I stayed here, but Elder Flores left. That was a little weird becasue he only was here for 3 weeks but my new comp is Elder Chávez from Ecuador. But it was a little weird because my comp was outside the city so he didnt get here till saturday, so for Tuesday to Friday i was in trio with the other Elders here. And one of them just got here from the Provo MTC so it was pretty different. And also im the new District Leader here. A lot of stuff happened this week but we still had time to meet with the Camperos.

We taught the flia Campero again and they went to church again. We taugh them about The Gospel of Jesus Christ this week. The problem with them is that the parents arent married and the mom is very receptive so we havent been able to put a date on them, but we did put a date on the brother of the mom, named Omar for the 20th. He already has the 3 attendences so we just have to teach him now. He super cool. He has a little bit of trouble reading and he has a little bit a learning disability but he understands everything. Hes 29 years old and he still acts like he 10 years old but he has progressed so much. When we first started teaching him he didnt understand anything and he couldnt read a single word without help but yesterday he was flipping through the pages of a pamphlet and reading the section headings like normal. Its really a huge miracles that he is progressing.
Other than that we didnt have to much citas for the cambios but this week was still really good.
I read these scriptures today for the first time and i loved them.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is absolutly nothing in this world, nothing we can do or have that can seperate us from the love that God has for us. It doesnt matter what happens He will always have the same love for every single one of us.

Thats about its for this week. I love you guys and hope you all have a good week.

August 1st, 2016

Hola everybody,

This week was pretty good. We had a lot of visits with people here. We visited the Sosa family and talked about the Sabbath Day and they promised to got to church. We also taught the Camperos and they said they were going to go. We decided to pick them both up on Sunday so that morning was a little crazy getting members to go and pick them up and then get to church on time. But it all worked out. Only the kids of the Sosas went for the first hour, but they said they liked it and that they would go again next week with their parents. We have a FHE with them tomorrow and we are going to go with a really cool family in the ward so they can get to know them. I'm super pumped now for them now that they've gone to church. The camperos went too and were in the Gospel Principles class too. They said they liked the class and are excited to go next week.
I was reading today in Mosiah 10, and i like verses 10-11.

10 And it came to pass that we did go up to battle against the Lamanites; and I, even I, in my old age, did go up to battle against the Lamanites. And it came to pass that we did go up in the strength of the Lord to battle. 11 Now, the Lamanites knew nothing concerning the Lord, nor the strength of the Lord, therefore they dependedupon their own strength. Yet they were a strong people, as to the strength of men.

I like the last part of both verses. It says that the army of Zeniff was with the "strength of the Lord" and the Laminites were with the "strength of man". And obviously in the end Zeniff's army ends of winning the battle. Its makes me think of what Mom always says. We already know what team is going to win the battle, we just have to choose what side to be on.

Other than that cambios are this week. Im pretty sure im staying here because Elder Flores still doesnt really know the area to well but who knows. Hope you all have a good week. I love you all. (I have pictures but i have to send them in another email)
